This was one of these receptions where at the end of it we were all glowing with the feeling of how perfect everything went. It was honestly one of those receptions where we can confidently say, “no other band could have delivered above and beyond what this couple wanted.” Their unique musical personality combined with the band’s infectious energy were reflected throughout. Here’s a few highlights:
Lyrics to the couples’ favorite songs were displayed across the custom vinyl on the dance floor
A few specific/requested band cues included playing “Let’s Dance” by David Bowie as the guests entered the room and then “Hard to Concentrate” by Red Hot Chili Peppers after the groom’s welcome speech to start dinner.
The dinner concluded with the father-of-the-bride giving a toast and recalling the night he met the groom by saying, “the next thing I know, Cody is standing on a table and starts to do karaoke to this …” as he turns and points to the band and Cody on stage as we tear in to “Loveshack” by the B-52s with the groom singing lead.
The dance highlights are too many to name but here are a few:
The 8-minute Beatles Mashup that ended with everyone singing “Hey Jude” at the top of their lungs. (video coming soon)
Playing a new mashup that included “Smells Like Teen Spirit” with a horn section playing the solo (groom’s idea).
Damon laying on his back and spinning circles during his solo on “Proud Mary.”
Ending the night with the couple on stage for the second to last song singing, “All These Things I’ve Done” by The Killers with us.
Firing off all of our cold sparks throughout the night at the reception. Including a big finish on the final encore song of the night of “Electric Love” by Børns and then having the cold sparks outside for their grand exit.
